Understanding Sexual Violence

Sexual violence can take many forms—physical, emotional, or psychological—and includes behaviors like name-calling, hitting, pushing, stalking, sexual assault, coercion, or manipulation.

While anyone can experience abuse, women, girls, and gender-diverse youth, including Two-Spirit, Trans, and non-binary people, are at higher risk. This program helps participants understand what sexual violence looks like, recognize warning signs, and learn strategies to protect themselves and others.

Victim Blaming: Myths vs Facts

There are many misconceptions about sexual violence—who it happens to, why it happens, and who is responsible.

This program helps girls separate myths from facts, understand that abuse is never their fault. No one deserves to be abused. Yet, harmful myths often place blame on survivors instead of the person who caused harm.  By challenging these myths, participants build self-esteem, agency, and empowerment.

Consent & Boundaries

What consent really means?

Consent is more than just saying “yes” or “no”—it’s about choice, respect, and clear communication.

This program teaches at-risk pre-teen and teen girls how to understand their rights, recognize when someone’s asking for consent, and confidently communicate their own boundaries. Participants learn that consent must always be freely given, reversible, informed, enthusiastic, and specific, helping them build self-respect, confidence, and healthy relationships.

Saying "No" safely

“NO" is a complete sentence.

Saying No is a powerful way to protect yourself, set boundaries, and maintain respect in any relationship. This program teaches girls how to communicate refusal clearly and confidently, handle pressure from peers, adults, or partners, and stay safe while standing up for themselves. Participants gain the skills to assert their choices with courage, self-respect, and confidence.
